May is recognized as Older Americans Month and, since we serve local seniors, we thought it would be fun to create an activity you can do to share your story. Every day we make our mark in this world. Sharing our experience is one of many ways we can connect with our loved ones, even when we can’t be together in person.
Many older adults suffer from chronic diseases, such as heart conditions, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, and cancer. These diseases are serious, but they don’t have to keep your aging relative from leading a full and active life. When seniors follow the advice of their doctors and take steps to keep symptoms under control, they can feel better and more able to participate in activities they enjoy.
Everyone has those moments where they wish things were different. You and your senior might both feel that way about her health or about her overall situation. It’s at those moments when reality can feel way harsher than it should be and denial feels a little more comfortable. But how much reality is enough?
Everyone looks for ways to save money. You get a feeling of satisfaction when you’ve paid far less for items than their MSRP. Four small changes can help your mom save money on her groceries. She’ll have extra money in her pocket and feel great knowing she paid less for the items she needed.
